Chemicals
In 2006, SABIC sold 3.6 million metric tons of polyolefins and 7.2 million metric tons of basic chemicals.
Over the years it has established communication and transport links with many customers and suppliers around the world.
In terms of cost position, SABIC ranks among the best in Europe. Committed to its customers, it is equally dedicated to continuous improvement activities: modernizing the crackers and downstream plants. As a result, the business group has increased its competitive strength and established one of the most integrated sites in Europe.
The complementary nature of its two crackers and its connection to the ARG ethylene pipeline network constitute a major competitive edge.
Olefins
Olefins are used in the manufacture of virtually all consumer products made with chemicals or plastics. The most important of these are ethylene and propylene.
Aromatics and gasoline products
Aromatics are a group of hydrocarbons that form the basis of important commodity chemicals used in the production of items such as clothing, paints, and packaging. Among SABIC’s aromatics are styrene, benzene, and paraxylene.
Fibre intermediates
Fibre intermediates are used in the manufacture of antifreeze, detergents, paints and polyester.
Industrial gases
Industrial gases are gases that we supply pure, in liquid or gas form, which are used in industrial processes. While we mainly supply these gases to SABIC affiliates, our krypton-xenon mix and our argon are available for regional industries and for export.
Linear alpha olefins
Linear alpha olefins are linear hydrocarbons with an even number of carbon atoms, unsaturated at the terminal (alpha) positions of the molecule. These chemicals form components of comonomers, alcohols, lubricants, surfactants and other intermediate chemicals.
